The Asian Seniors Tour (AST) is pleased to report the breaking of new ground with the staging of inaugural Asian Senior Masters @ Cambodia golf tournament which was successfully staged this December 2010 at the Siem Reap Lake Resort Golf Club.

Asian Senior Tour Professionals and amateur golfers arrived at Siem Reap Airport on Sunday 5th Dec 2010 where thanks to the kind support and assistance received from the SCA our ASM @ Cambodia signage was well displayed. The team from Royal Angkor Resort were kindly supported by SCA’s staff were on hand to assist with immigration and customs matters before sending the arriving guests to the hotel.



The ASM @ Cambodia Welcome Reception at the Royal Angkor Resort on Sunday 5th Dec 2010 was attended by several senior Cambodian Cabinet Ministers, sponsors, leaders from Cambodia’s business community, several high ranking golfers from Cambodia’s police and military, along with the amateur and professional participants, who graced the occasion setting the stage for an exciting tournament week.

ASM @ Cambodia Pro-Am 1 staged on Monday 6th Dec 2010 saw Asian Senior PGA Tour players Antolin Fernando (Philippines), Reid Sheftall (USA / based in Cambodia), Scott Puzey (USA) and Subramanyah (Malaysia) returning commendable level par scores of 72

They were followed by Egbert Jorge and Lai Wai Che from (Hong Kong), along with Jessie Hernandez and Renato Gaviola from (Philippines) and Tony Feminis (Germany) returning one over par 73s.

Cambodia’s amateur golfer lead the field with Ly Heng returning the day’s best score firing an impressive one under par 71, to be followed by Lee Hong, and San Sena Ho returning one over par 73s

H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, showed that he was no slouch on the golf course returning 75 with three over par, followed by Gen. Sery Van Thy and Sam Kean both returning 76 at four over par.

They were followed by Adam Robertson (Scotland / sponsor Angkor Golf Resort) with 78 along with Chris Boshoff (South Africa) and San Sean Ho (Cambodia) both returning 79s with Laurent Nguyen (Vietnam / sponsor Ashor) representing the Buya Club with 81

The ASM @ Cambodia tournament’s Gala Dinner at the FCC on Monday 6th Dec 2010 was attended by all the participants and sponsors, and AST wish to acknowledge the support received from Mr. Raphael Guillien (COO of FCC Group), and the hard work put in by Ben Jancloes (GM @ FCC Siem Reap) who ensured that the Gala Dinner was a success despite the inclement weather, and that a great time was had by all.




ASM @ Cambodia Pro-Am 2 staged on Tuesday 7th Dec 2010 saw the several Asian Senior PGA Tour players returning level par 72s including Brouchoud René-Pierre (Switzerland) and Reid Sheftall (USA)

The leaders were trailed by Fabian Del Rosario (Philippines) and Lai Wai Che (Hong Kong) with two over par 74s, and they were followed by Antolin Fernando and Jessie Hernandez from (Philippines), Scott Puzey (USA), Sergio Borgioli (Italy), Subramanyah (Malaysia) and Don Leary (Australia) returning 3 over par 75s

Cambodia’s amateur golfers continued to lead the field with Mr. Ly Hong shooting the ASM @ Cambodia tournament’s record of 4 under par 68, followed by Mr. Naro and Mr. Seng Seiha both returning 1 over par 73 with Mr. Cheng Heng at 3 over par with 75, and Seng Vanthy who shot 76 at 4 over.

They were followed by Chris Ponniah (Malaysia / sponsor Henry Butcher) and Lee Hong both with 79. H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch shot a steady 80 and H.E Cham Prasidh returned shot 83, followed by the Pascal (France / sponsor FCC), Paul Forbes (Scotland), Mark Langhammer (Singapore) and Laurent Nguyen (Vietnam) who all came home with 84

The top 9 best gross scoring golfers from each Pro-Am secured places in the in the ASM Amateur Finals on Thursday 9th Dec 201 that was staged during and in conjunction with the final day of the ASM @ Cambodia 2010 professional tournament where the amateur participants competed for the honour of being the first winner of the Beeline Cup.

The Best Nett prize was won by Emmet (UK / sponsor Soka Hotel) with 65


ASM @ Cambodia PROFESSIONAL TOURNMENT – DAY 1 – Wednesday 8th Dec 2010 saw the Asian Senior PGA Tour players Fabian Del Rosario (Philippines) shooting an impressive 70 to be 2 under par along with Ross Metherell (Australia) with 71 at 1 under par to lead the field, closely followed by Don Leary (Australia) and Renato Gaviola (Philippines) at level par with 72.

Reid Sheftall (USA) shot 73 to be 1 over par followed by Scott Puzey (USA) and Tony Feminis (USA / German PGA) along with Antolin Fernando and Jessie Hernandez both from the (Philippines) returning 74 to be 2 over par for the day, trailed by Yen Chung Ching (Taiwan) with 75 at 3 over.


ASM @ Cambodia PROFESSIONAL TOURNMENT – FINAL DAY – Thursday 9th Dec 2010 saw the several more of the Asian Senior PGA Tour players shooting sub-par rounds with Tony Feminis (USA) along Renato Gaviola (Philippines) returning 71s to be 1 under par for the day.

The Senior Professionals from the Philippines showed that they were serious contenders for the inaugural ASM @ Cambodia with Antolin Fernando and Jessie Hernandez both returning 73 to be one over par for the day, closely followed by fellow countryman Fabian Del Rosario, along with Scott Puzey (USA), Ross Metherell (Australia) and Lai Wai Che (Hong Kong) with 74 to be two over for the day.

The contingent of senior professional golfers from the Philippines proved too much for the rest of the field, and in addition to their countrymen Renato Gaviola (Philippines) emerging victorious and the Champion of the inaugural ASM @ Cambodia with a two day score of 143 to be 1 under par for the two day tournament.

He was closely followed by Fabian Del Rosario (Philippines) in second place who returned an impressive two day score of 144 to be level over for the two day tournament.

Third place was tied between, Tony Feminis (Germany) and Ross Metherell (Australia) who returned two day scores of 145 to be one over for the two day tournament.

Fifth place was tied between, Don Leary (Australia) along with Antolin Fernando and Jessie Hernandez both from the (Philippines) who returned two day scores of 147 to be three over par for the two day tournament followed by Scott Puzey (USA) with 148 at four over par in 8th place.

In addition to taking first and second place, the Philippines contingent managed to secure 4 out of the top 8 places for the ASM @ Cambodia professional championship.

ASM @ Cambodia Amateur Finals the Beeline Cup –

Cambodia’s amateur golfers led the ASM @ Cambodia from start to finish with Sam Kean returning 74 to emerge as the first amateur Champion for the ASM @ Cambodia and winner of the Beeline Cup, followed by Cheng Heng, returning 75, Lee Hong and H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch with 76 followed by Chris Boshoff (South Africa) with 77 and Lewis Coyle (Australia) with 78

ASM @ Cambodia – raised US$ 1,288 for the Red Cross of Cambodia

H.E. Sou Phirin the Governor of Siem Reap proved that he was both a very accomplished golfer and a good sport, joining Chuan Campbell (Chairman of the AST) and his flight mates Mr. Andrew Guilfoyle (GM Dufry Cambodia), Mr. Laurent Nguyen (MD Khmer Advanced trading & Services - Cambodia) and Mr. Mark Langhammer (CEO 101 Capital - Singapore) in the last few holes of their round of golf, where even without his golf shoes and glove, and with borrowed clubs, H.E. Sou Phirin showed that he could most certainly hold his own on the golf course.

H.E. Sou Phirin and his wife kindly graced the closing ceremony of the ASM @ Cambodia and received the charity funds raised from the various charity fund raising activities undertaken during the Pro-Ams and from the silent auction of the Honda Dream Motorcycle generously donated by sponsors Galavani represented by Mr. Luc Grobert.

Excerpts from H.E. Sou Phirin speech given during the ASM @ Cambodia closing ceremony and checque presentation to the Red Cross of Cambodia, H.E. said,

“Welcome to Siem Reap, on behalf of the Red Cross of Cambodia, we are most grateful for the kind donation, and we look forward to your continued support next year…….

I am most pleased to see the ASM @ Cambodia tournament being staged in Siem Reap and like the tournament’s sponsors and the amateur golfers from Cambodia and the region, we look forward to next year’s ASM @ Cambodia tournament which I am sure will be even bigger…!”
